These are energy-based devices. Used correctly they are safe at home; used carelessly they can burn skin and damage eyes. Everything below applies in addition to the instructions supplied with your device.
Wear the supplied eyewear for every IPL and laser session, without exception. Never look into the window while a handset is powered, and never point it at anyone else. Keep these devices away from children.
IPL and diode laser target pigment in the hair follicle. They suit light to medium skin with dark hair. They are not suitable for very dark skin tones, where the energy is absorbed by the skin rather than the follicle, nor for white, grey, red or fine blonde hair, where there is too little pigment to target. Our handsets carry a skin-tone sensor that blocks firing outside the validated range. Do not try to defeat it.
If you have a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device, do not use microcurrent or radio-frequency tools without clearing it with your doctor first.
Test a small area at the lowest setting and wait 24 hours before treating a full area with any device, every time you increase intensity.
Mild warmth and redness that settles within a few hours is normal. Avoid direct sun for 48 hours either side of a session and use SPF on treated areas. Stop and speak to a clinician if you see blistering, lasting pain or a change in pigment.
This page is general guidance, not medical advice. If you have a skin condition or are unsure whether a device suits you, speak to a dermatologist before buying.
